Power, Corruption & Lies is the second studio album by English rock band New Order, released on 2 May 1983 by Factory Records. The album features more electronic tracks than their 1981 debut Movement, with heavier use of synthesizers. It was included in the top 100 albums of the 1980s lists in both Rolling Stone and Pitchfork. Peter Saville's design for the album had a colour-based code to represent the band's name and the title of the album, but they were not actually written on the original UK. Power, Corruption and Lies. New Order. Released May 2, 1983. Power, Corruption and Lies Tracklist. Age of Consent Lyrics. Taking a huge cleanup after the goth power of Movement, Power, Corruption, and Lies tells us through its minimalistic pile of roses that looks can be deceiving. While Blue Monday was only on the American version, the biggest-selling 12 single wasnt just noticeable here. Ecstasy points to reminiscence of Joy Division and the drug itself, while 5 8 6 starts slow but quickly gains momentum. New Order - Bizarre , Corruption & Lies is the second album by Manchester band New Order, released on 2 May 1983. The album achieved more widespread popularity than any of the band's previous releases, including those of previous band Joy Division. The music is more electronic-based than previous albums, with heavy use of synthesizers. Power, Corruption & Lies is the second album by Manchester band New Order, released on 2 May 1983. Power, Corruption & Lies. A great leap forward from their funereal debut album, Power, Corruption & Lies cemented New Order's place as the most exciting dance-rock hybrid in music and it didn't even include the massive Blue Monday single, released earlier that year. Confident and invigorating where Movement had sounded disconsolate and lost, the record simply pops with energy from the beginning Age of Consent, an alternative pop song with only a smattering of synthesizers overlaying an assured Bernard Sumner, who took his best vocal turn yet. Power, Corruption & Lies established New Order's identity separate from its previous incarnation as Joy Division. Containing Blue Monday, one of the most sacredly important dance songs of all time, this album truly stands not only as New Order's most defining moment but perhaps as the most standard-setting moment in alternative dance. But interesting rhythms are just one facet of this musical diamond. Their foreboding, grim, and often just plain heartbreaking lyrics present a contradiction to most dance-pop songs, whose lyrics are almost always uplifting or even evangelical. Power, Corruption and Lies is the second album made by New Order. It was released 2 May 1983 with Factory Records. The song Age of Consent is considered one of the best New Order songs of all time. After making songs such as Temptation, Everything's Gone Green, and Video 586, New Order thought it was about time to make a full album full of the synthpop and alternative dance they invented. While recording said album they thought of some titles for their album, like How Does It Feel
